Motif Terms of Service

1. Service Description

Motif is a local-first personal capture and knowledge tool for saving links, quotes, notes, and images.

OCR results, extracted article content, and search results are informational only and may be inaccurate or incomplete.

Browser extension capture is included in Free. Collections, ZIP backup export and import, reading view, OCR, and semantic search require Pro. Pro features are optional and separate from the core features. Pro license verification may require an internet connection.

Motif is not intended for use by individuals under the age of 18.

4. Acceptable Use

You may not use Motif to:

• Abuse, reverse engineer, disrupt, or interfere with the service or its related command center.
• Attempt unauthorized access to local storage, licensing systems, or any related services.
• Bypass, tamper with, or misuse Pro verification or access controls.
• Use the app for fraudulent, deceptive, or unlawful activity.
• Upload or import data you do not have the right to use.
• Use automated means to scrape, abuse, or overload the service or related pages.

5. Pro Licensing, Billing, and Refunds

Pro features require a valid license key. Standard Lifetime Pro includes two browser-installation activations. Separate browsers or profiles on the same physical device count as separate installations. Family (5) and Team (10) license options are available by contacting us. Initial activation requires internet access. These licenses do not provide automatic library synchronization.

Pro purchases and payment processing are handled by Lemon Squeezy as merchant of record. Billing, checkout, taxes, and related payment terms are governed by Lemon Squeezy's terms and policies where applicable.

Pro purchases are non-refundable except where required by applicable law or where the merchant's policy provides otherwise.

Initial activation must succeed before Pro is unlocked. Once activated, the current app uses locally stored Pro status without periodic online revalidation, so being offline alone does not disable Pro. Deactivating the license or clearing its stored site data removes local Pro access. Features that fetch content or resources may still require internet.

6. Intellectual Property

The Motif brand, software, design, content, and related materials are protected by applicable intellectual property laws.

Motif grants you a limited, personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to use the service for your own personal tracking and organization purposes, subject to these Terms.

You retain ownership of the capture content you save into Motif, subject to any third-party rights contained in imported files or content you provide.

7. Disclaimer and Limitation of Liability

Motif is provided on an “as is” and “as available” basis.

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Motif, Ant, and Ant-kakanat make no warranties or guarantees of any kind, express or implied, including without limitation warranties of accuracy, completeness, reliability, fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement, or uninterrupted availability.

Motif does not guarantee that OCR results, extracted article content, or search results will be correct.

Motif is not responsible for decisions you make based on app output, including content organization or data entry decisions.

To the maximum extent allowed by law, Motif, Ant, and Ant-kakanat are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, or for loss of data, loss of profits, service interruption, calculation errors, OCR errors, or losses arising from or related to your use of the service.

8. Termination

Your access to Motif may be suspended or restricted if there is serious misuse, fraud, abuse, or violation of these Terms.

You may stop using Motif at any time.

Termination or suspension may limit access to Pro features or related services, but local data stored on your device will remain subject to your browser, device, and storage settings.

9. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of the Philippines, without regard to conflict-of-law principles, except where applicable consumer protection laws require otherwise.
