Where is my library stored?
In this browser’s local storage on your device. You do not need an account, and Motif does not automatically sync your library to a cloud database. Different browsers and devices have separate libraries.
What works offline?
After the app has loaded online and its offline resources are cached, you can reopen it offline, create notes and quotes, save images, and use keyword search. Previously saved Reading View text is available locally; embedded images may still need a connection. New link previews and article extraction need internet access. OCR and semantic search require initial resource downloads. Offline availability depends on browser support and retained app resources, models, and site data.
Do any features send data over the network?
Yes. Link previews and favicons make requests to external services, and reading view sends the article URL to a server to retrieve its content. Fonts and AI/OCR resources are downloaded from external services. Pro checkout loads a third-party script; activation sends your license key and a browser-generated installation identifier through Motif’s server to Lemon Squeezy. Local storage does not mean every feature operates without a connection.
How do I back up or move my library?
ZIP export and import are Pro features in Settings. Export a backup before clearing site data or moving devices, then import it on the other device. There is no automatic device sync. Clearing browser site data can erase your library; without a backup, those records cannot be restored by Motif.
Are browser extensions free?
Yes. Quick Capture for Chrome, Edge, and Firefox works with Free Motif. Use it to save page links and selected quotes without buying Pro.
Does saving a link save the whole article?
No. A saved link and its preview are separate from an offline article. Pro reading view retrieves supported articles and caches their content locally for later reading. Some websites may not support extraction.
What does Lifetime Pro include?
Collections, ZIP backup export and import, reading view, screenshot OCR, and local semantic search. Standard Pro includes two browser-installation activations. Separate browsers or profiles on the same device count separately. Initial activation requires internet; the current app then uses locally stored Pro status without periodic online revalidation. Clearing site data or deactivating removes that local status. The launch price is $19 with ILOVEMOTIF, reduced from $29 for the first 100 users. Family (5) and Team (10) license options are available by contacting us; they do not add automatic library synchronization.
